Archie Law AM
Archie has been honoured by his country for his contribution to global humanitarian action.
Archie was admitted as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Australia Day Honours List on January 26th 2023. He was honoured with this award for his significant service to the community through a range of humanitarian organisations.
The award was presented to Archie by the Governor of Victoria, The Hon. Linda Dessau AC CVO, at a ceremony at Government House Victoria, Australia on April 4th, 2023.
Archie is currently working with the Humanitarian Leadership Academy to establish their leadership programme in the Asia-Pacific Region. He has co-designed the "Belonging and Leadership Programme" and the "Re-Imagining Leadership" programmes for senior leadership teams and led the Eco-Leadership Programme with senior leaders across the region.
He has designed and delivered leadership programmes for senior leadership teams in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Thailand, Türkiye, United Kingdom and Vietnam. Archie is passionate about his coaching practice and has more than 300 hours of coaching experience with senior leaders, emerging leaders and leadership teams.
Archie was previously the Director of International Programs at Save the Children Australia where he was responsible for an annual AUD 40 million budget across a range of countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Fiji, Iraq, Myanmar and the Philippines. Prior to joining Save the Children Australia, Archie worked in Iraq with Save the Children International where he designed, secured funding and led the Building Peaceful Futures Consortium which was a AUD25 million project funded by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade which reached over 100,000 people.
Archie was the founding Chief Executive Officer of ActionAid Australia and led the organisation from 2008 until 2017. During this period, he led the initial strategic planning, change management and culture development processes and established ActionAid Australia as a respected member of the international development and humanitarian community. He was elected to the ActionAid International Global Leadership Team and represented ActionAid International on the ActionAid Indonesia Board.
Archie has worked in Africa for the UN Development Program as their Conflict Prevention and Recovery Advisor, the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations in New York as Policy Coordination Officer and the Mines Advisory Group as their Country Director in Cambodia.
Archie Law AM is accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council as a Coach at the Senior Practitioner level and is a Certified Process Consultant with the Society of Process Consulting.
He has a Master of Arts in International Relations from Monash University, a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Monash University, an Advanced Diploma in Executive Business Coaching from Leeds Beckett University and a Post Graduate Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring from Leeds Beckett University. He is currently studying a Masters of Executive Coaching at Leeds Beckett University.
