Save the Children Australia

Archie was appointed as the Humanitarian Director at Save the Children Australia in 2018 and was then promoted to the Director of International Programmes in 2021.

Objectives

Archie was responsible for leading the humanitarian team in Save the Children Australia. In this role he was responsible for team leadership, strategy and ensuring that the organisation responded as one during humanitarian emergencies.

Archie was later appointed as the Director of International Programmes where he was responsible for a $41 million dollar portfolio. He was responsible for leadership, program quality, program management, development and humanitarian response programming and business development.

Outcomes

  • Archie led the development of the humanitarian strategy in 2019 which focused on climate change adaptation, building the capability on cash transfers, and thought leadership.
  • In 2020 Archie was responsible for the COVID 19 response which included mobilising $25 million for a cash transfers programme in Fiji. This programme reached over 20% of the population and provided the most vulnerable people with a safety net during the pandemic.
  • Archie established the International Programmes Division in 2021, led a change management process, established a culture based on trust and commitment and supported people in the team to thrive and fulfill their potential.
