Archie was appointed as Chief Operations Officer at Austcare in 2007 and was appointed as Chief Executive Officer in 2008. He was appointed as the first Chief Executive Officer of ActionAid Australia in 2009 and served three terms concluding in 2017.

OBJECTIVE

Archie was recruited as Chief Executive Officer of Austcare to guide the organisation through the merger with ActionAid International which resulted in the formation of ActionAid Australia. His main focus was on strategy, change management, transforming the organisation into a dynamic women's rights organisation and growing income and supporters.

OUTCOMES

  • Archie led the Board and Staff through their first strategic planning process as ActionAid Australia and the resulting change management process which led to the organisation emerging as a women's rights powerhouse.
  • This shift resulted in an increase in supporter numbers from 12,000 to 40,000 and an increase in revenue from $8 million to $13 million.
  • Archie led the establishment of the Australian Cluster Munitions Coalition which advocated for Australia to support a global ban on Cluster Munitions. He was appointed to the Global Steering Committee of the Cluster Munitions Coalition (CMC) which was nominated for the 2008 Nobel Peace Prize.
